HISTORY Bretons Manor, which is a Grade II listed building. Houses have stood on, or near the site of the present Bretons Manor since 1160.In all 5 houses have been built. The house you see today was built in 1742.Some of the materials and bricks from the Tudor and Elizabethan Bretons were used. (Recycling began at Bretons!) The house has three floors and a basement, not forgetting the 16th century Noble Barn. Bretons has lots of hidden treasures, including a well, (second deepest in Essex) and underground tunnel |
